The WORKS PROJECT ADMINISTRATION (WPA) was instituted by President Roosevelt (FDR) to employ artists, writers, researchers, and many others during the Great Depression. Their work was valuable and preserved our history, through projects such as SLAVE NARRATIVES.

This old poster from WWII reflects the spirit of Patriotic Americans who saw the Nazi threat for what it was. Terror.

We fought in other people's countries to liberate them from this threat. Thousands lost their lives for the ideal that we have the freedom to worship as we please, and that our children never fear the planes flying over their homes would drop bombs on them.

Posters like these today seem so Old School, they depict a way of life that seems to be gone from America. Today street gangs terrorize their own communities.

Did the fear ever really go away?

Today our fears are of terror within our country by those who came to live here but hate us.

As a result, we are living in a culture where every next person is a possible terrorist. We have the experience of BEING CONSIDERED GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT!

NURSES ARE NEEDED - ALWAYS

Then and now nurses are needed. Nurses and those in the medical profession find work plentiful. There are more than enough jobs or we would not be allowing the immigration we do, based on medical expertise.

Of course our health care system is in crisis.

As Americans can we really expect that no matter how we might take care of our health we should have free or low cost health care for just about any illness? Can we absorb the costs of say, a liver transplant, for people who broke our laws and abused drugs? Or what about babies born with AIDS, through no fault of their own?

We don't know the answer to this. We don't want to face the fact that we have a class system here and that those who have lost their health insurance and then their credit have a difficult time saving all that they have worked for and a difficult time getting hired.

THE ANSWERIS ONE OF THOSE THAT IS SIMPLE and at the same time WILL REQUIRE COMPROMISE.

WE NEED TO KEEP JOBS IN AMERICA for AMERICANS and the first thing you can do is BUY AMERICAN - or buy used - or go without !

We know it takes some time and energy.

BUT MAKE A PLEDGE TODAY that you will spend a little extra time and look for that FLYING AMERICAN FLAG on your purchases !
